What we're about

Clinically astute and deeply human.

Discourse Psychology Centre was founded on the belief that good therapy is both evidence-based and deeply human. Too often, people give up on care that is one without the other: clinically sharp but cold, or warm, but not based on evidence.

Our name reflects our work. Meaningful change happens through intentional dialogue. It can look like a person in conversation with their own patterns, partners rebuilding connection, or a client sitting with a clinician who takes their role seriously.

What Makes us Different

Four things you can count on.

Doctoral Clinicians

Care is delivered, or supervised, by a registered psychologist (C.Psych.). Psychologists are among the most highly trained mental health professionals in Ontario, and licensed to assess, diagnose and treat mental health conditions.

Evidence-Based

We only use psychological approaches that have real research support, including transdiagnostic and disorder-specific treatments as appropriate. Our clinicians also keep up with the science to ensure treatments maintain a standard.

Culturally & Personally Responsive

Your background, values, and faith are treated as essential context in treatment planning. Your experiences add richness to the treatment and are not unnecessarily pathologized.

Accessible

We’re committed to removing barriers to treatment to ensure most people can access quality care. Our virtual services remove challenges with commute, waitlist, and distance from a therapist that understands you – wherever you are in the province.

A psychologist makes a note while their patient talks.

Our Approach

Tailored to you, not to a rigid protocol.

Care is always evidence-based and guided by ongoing formulation. All All treatments, including individual therapy and couples therapy, are tailored, reviewed, and adjusted to you.

Care is culturally sensitive to ensure respect and treatment adherence.

Depending on your needs, treatment may draw on:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

FAQs

How do I begin therapy?

You may submit an inquiry through our Contact page, send an email to admin@discoursepsychology.ca, or call our clinic at 647-203-1468. Once you call, we will schedule a brief consultation with a clinician to determine fit and availability, before scheduling an initial appointment.

At Discourse Psychology Centre, we do not require a physician referral to access our services. Some extended health benefit plans may request a physician referral before they reimburse you for services.

Psychological services in private practice are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health insurance plans cover services provided by a Registered Psychologist (C.Psych.) or clinicians operating under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist. Contact your health insurance provider to see if our services will be covered.

All services are provided virtually to clients across Ontario. At Discourse Psychology Centre, we use secure email and encrypted telehealth platforms for all services. These platforms allow us to balance privacy, accessibility and continuity of care.
